Kurir brings HEY-style screening to the email account you already have, with Claude to write your replies.
Press kit
Kurir is an email app for iPhone and Mac built around HEY-style screening: a new sender's first mail waits in the Screener until you say where they go. Claude writes your replies, and over MCP it can work in your mailbox. All on the mail account you already have.
Questions, an interview, a free year to test with. Write to carl-fredrik@arvidson.io.
The basics
The story
Kurir is its own take on the way HEY handles mail. The first time someone writes to you, the mail waits in the Screener. You decide once where that sender belongs: the Imbox for people, The Feed for newsletters, Paper Trail for receipts, or blocked. After that, everything they send goes straight there. You can decide for a whole domain at once.
HEY does this on a new @hey.com address. Kurir does it on the account you have: iCloud, Fastmail, Gmail or any IMAP server. You keep your address and your provider.
Open a mail, tap Generate draft and say in a few words what the answer should be. Claude writes it from the thread and your earlier mail with that person, in the tone you pick: Auto, Formal, Friendly or Direct. Try again gives you another version to choose from. Nothing goes out until you insert one and press Send.
AI Rules handle senders who mix mail you want with mail you don't. Describe the good ones in a sentence, and Claude files each new mail from them where the rule says.
Kurir Push, a small companion that runs on your Mac or on a Linux machine, serves MCP. Connect Claude Code with a one-time code from the app, and you can ask it to go through your Screener, find and summarize threads, archive and snooze, write drafts, book, move and cancel meetings, and keep your contacts up to date. It asks you first before it sends a mail, blocks a sender or deletes anything.
The AI runs on your own Claude subscription. There is no API key to buy and no Kurir server between your mail and the model.
Kurir has no server of its own. Your screening choices, rules and settings live in a hidden folder in your own mailbox, optionally encrypted, which is how the iPhone and the Mac agree. Carl-Fredrik Arvidson started Kurir in February 2026 and makes it alone in Uppsala, Sweden.

Kurir is an email app for iPhone and Mac. New senders wait in the Screener until you send them to the Imbox, The Feed or Paper Trail. Kurir is an email app for iPhone and Mac built on the idea HEY made popular: strangers knock first. A new sender's first mail waits in the Screener, and you decide once whether they belong in the Imbox, in The Feed with your newsletters, in Paper Trail with your receipts, or nowhere. Unlike HEY, Kurir does this on the account you already have, whether that is iCloud, Fastmail, Gmail or any IMAP provider.
Claude is built in. Say in a few words what a reply should say, pick a tone, and Claude writes it from the thread and your history with that person. AI Rules sort mail from senders who mix the useful with the noise.
And Claude Code can work in your mailbox over MCP: go through the Screener, find threads, archive and snooze, write drafts and book meetings, asking before it sends or deletes anything. The AI runs on your own Claude subscription, with no API key.
Kurir costs $11.99 a year or $1.99 a month, with a free first month on the yearly plan.
